Bio

My name is Jade Diaz, I am a NYC born, and Connecticut based artist. Majority of my artwork carries themes of surrealism, figurative painting, femininity, and color theory. As a young girl, I had respect and admiration for all types of illustrations and paintings. Art has been an immeasurable contributor to my individual growth. During my High School experience, I developed an appreciation for the Art Department at Farmington High School. This exposure to art allowed my growth within different artistic courses. From studio art to figurative drawing classes, I sought out my home in artistic form. From exposure to different mediums, I was able to build as an individual. In my Junior year of high school, I began my admiration for surrealism. Connecting with personal events and traits to my art, it helped me establish many wonderful pieces in my surrealism collection. By Senior year of 2019, I had my first collection displayed at the senior art show presented at a local community college.
During my Sophomore year of college, I declared a minor in Studio Art, while continuing to major in Fashion Merchandising. In winter of 2021, I opened my Etsy art shop that focused my vision on luxury and body positivity.
Based on the digital archives of showgirls presented by Instagram account @ficheraz, I was inspired to take a twist on figurative paintings. Showgirls of the 20th century have captivated the world and media's attention for their visuals and character. Their garments of rhinestones and crystals create the body into a piece of artwork. Exploring the fashion and art industry at Lasell University, has encouraged my dedication to perfecting my art and also cultivating my career as an artist and a fashion major.
